Projects that shape and inspire us

To understand where to move next, sometimes it is worth looking back.
The team of the NGO “Foundation for Sustainable Change” has a number of initiatives behind it that have become important stages of our development even before the organization received its current name. These projects have become growth points that continue to inspire us to new solutions.

In 2021, the NGO team participated in a project on satellite monitoring of natural landfills in Ukrainian communities (https://inform.ikd.kiev.ua/2021/11/ldms_project/). This was a response to a real challenge — to combine digital technologies, local interaction and environmental action.

Among the main directions of the project:

  • analysis of satellite images to detect illegal landfills;
  • identification of environmentally problematic locations;
  • cooperation with local authorities and activists to respond.

This experience was a revelation for us: technology is not a distant future, but a real tool for supporting communities today. It was then that we first saw how data can help make important environmental decisions.

Today we are opening a new direction – the development of a digital educational platform for students of agricultural universities.
Our goal is to create a space where young people can:

  • model sustainable agricultural practices;
  • work with open environmental data;
  • research climate change;
  • create their own innovative solutions at the intersection of agriculture, technology and ecology.

We believe that the path to a sustainable future begins with understanding. And modern environmental education is the key to this future.

We thank everyone who has been part of our journey and invite partners, mentors, teachers, students and everyone who shares our value of sustainable development to join us.

We are finalists of the Impact Check program!

We have completed the Impact Check organizational capacity building training: thank you for your trust and development!

The NGO “Foundation for Sustainable Changes” has successfully completed all three stages of the Impact Check educational grant program, which was aimed at strengthening the organizational capacity of public initiatives throughout Ukraine.

The first stage is online training, in which 337 organizations participated.

The second stage is a three-day offline intensive in Dnipro for 30 selected participants. It was there that we received a grant to strengthen our organizational capacity.

The third stage is mentoring support, which was completed by only 10 organizations, including us.

From digital monitoring to youth work: the next stage of our development

After the experience of satellite monitoring of natural landfills, the team of the NGO “Foundation for Sustainable Changes” is expanding its focus and working on educational digital solutions for students of agricultural universities.
A new priority for the “Foundation for Sustainable Changes” is the creation of a digital learning platform for students of agricultural universities.

What will this platform be like?

This is an online space where students will be able to:

  • take thematic modules on carbon agriculture, sustainable agricultural practices and climate solutions;
  • work with open geodata, satellite images and analytical maps;
  • model the impact of agricultural technologies on soil carbon accumulation;
  • receive feedback from mentors and experts;
  • test their solutions in the format of interactive simulations.

The platform will have both educational and practical functions so that students can not only gain knowledge, but also apply it in real or simulated cases. It will be integrated with the educational process and open to partnership initiatives with universities, teachers and environmental organizations.

We are convinced: a new generation of agricultural specialists will become the driver of the “green transformation” of Ukraine. And now is the time to lay a solid educational foundation for them.

We invite teachers, mentors, partner institutions and everyone who shares our values to cooperate.
Together we can create a platform for the future in the truest sense of the word 💚

Participation in the international round table: EU integration and challenges for the agricultural sector

On May 15, the team of the NGO “Foundation for Sustainable Change” joined the international roundtable on the topic “Integration into the EU and Challenges for the Ukrainian Agricultural Sector in the Conditions of the European Green Deal”. The event was organized by the National University of Life Resources and Environmental Management of Ukraine with the support of the European Union.

The event brought together over 100 participants, representatives of agribusiness, universities, government agencies and public organizations to discuss a common vision for the transformation of Ukrainian agriculture.

For our organization, participation in such events is an opportunity to:

  • share experience in the field of climate solutions and sustainable agriculture;
  • establish new partnerships between education, civil society and business;
  • influence the formation of policies focused on an ecological future.

During the discussions, the following topical topics were raised:

  • adaptation of Ukraine’s agricultural policy to the European Green Deal;
  • the potential of carbon certificates as a financial instrument to support farmers;
  • the role of education and public initiatives in the transition to sustainable agricultural production.

We are grateful to the organizers for the invitation and the opportunity to be part of this dialogue. We believe that only through the joint efforts of science, business, the public and the state will the transition to a sustainable future become a reality today.
